                       Modern Interior Design Trends For 2011

       The new year has come and the new trend was set fast in all areas of our lives. A good way to start over new year and with a burst of new energy is to change your interior design, but be careful because there are new rules for this year. In 2011 the trends in interior design will be more attention to the family and will show a high interest for conservation and 'vintage', as one of the first priorities will save you money. For them to go very well together bright colors should be used, but at the same time as simple, as a reflection of gold with musk, tomato, or navy blue. One detail that you can not forget is the color and what they symbolize - because they have to show hope and optimism. Spring in nature symbolizes the birth and the colors of spring brings hope. Violet, mandarin orange, yellow and green can be used on the interior of your home.

Vintage: old restored furniture, romantic lines, pieces of wood massive complex, decorative pieces to remind you about the past. This, styles loved by women, vintage pieces means more than 'old', that appreciate and enjoy the pieces from past generations, grandparents and great grandparents. Vintage style, both in clothing and furnishings, involving pieces of the value and quality that remains untouched in time. But make sure that the vintage pieces you have or who you want to buy fits the style throughout your home that you mix with your own.

Paddles & Paws

Hitting up Tybee Island, Georgia has been on my to-do list ever since I learned of the one and only Jane Coslick. There's just something about every one of her designs....so colorful and friendly, where you can kick-back and relax the day away. I just get the sense the whole island is like that. This cottage is Jane's most recent undertaking, she shared a peek on her blog. Isn't it delightful?! Luckily for us, it will be available to rent by late spring through Mermaid Cottages. Sign me up!! And stop the presses: Did you guys know Jane has an online shop?! Be still my heart!!

We're now officially down to two weeks!! Some of my Facebook fans got a little peek yesterday into my DIY wedding decorations. I might just keep adding fun stuff on there, so follow along if you're interested!

       One of the most important questions when deciding which proposed to eventually follow up with painting the interior is: what can you live or work every day, for days. Solvent and the pigment is the easy part. The most influential aspect of interior painting is the additives and binders that give texture and finished appearance.

Remember that adorable coastal cottage from last week belonging to the talented photographer Stacey Haines? Well I've got more images to share from her! This story from Canadian Home & Country actually won Stacey a National Magazine Gold Award in Canada. She not only shot the story, but pitched the idea and produced the shoot. The cute cabin in Nova Scotia actually belongs to her parents and their family did the makeover together, so winning this award was super special to her! Tobi Fairley Does it Again!

I fell hard for this gorgeous kitchen and family room when I saw it on Tobi Fairley's blog (where she even shared before'n'afters!) Bless her heart because she created a whole page with details on how to give our own spaces this family-friendly look. Isn't the velvet polka-dot fabric on the back of the chairs fantastic?! (Jane Churchill for Cowtan & Tout) It's fun and elegant! If I could transport myself into this space, I would in a heartbeat! Funky! This Ibiza home named "Never Never Land" designed by Madrid-based architect Andrés Jacque and featured in The New York Times was built to have as minimal an impact as possible on the surrounding landscape. No trees had to be cut down during construction, and as you can see, they were actually incorporated into the interior! That's some serious dedication! A ton of new snow was just dumped on Minnesota, but that doesn't stop me from dreaming about summer! I'd love to have a lake home just like this Lake Michigan cottage designed by Kathryn Chaplow. Actually I'd love to just have a home like this one, it really doesn't even need to be by a lake! That serene bedroom is a slice of heaven! Love the aqua, the ceilings, the little nook...all so pretty. What about the porch...how fun is that red animal print?! And did you notice the blue and green fabric on the pillow on the sofa in the living room? It looks a lot like the fabric from yesterday's nursery! We gotta figure out what that is, I love it!
