Marketing Suite by Mikano

This project allowed the clients to go from concept to development in 8 weeks.
The client wanted to move away from the standard available options for marketing suites such as traditional temporary buildings and porta cabins. Mikano were commissioned to design and build a Marketing Suite for a new Woodside Development.

The marketing suite needed to be designed constructed and fully functional in the minimum amount of time. The requirements of Capricorn homes were that the unit could be dismantled and move to a further projected 5 sites. The unit was fully built offsite and engineered to split down the middle into two separate sections. The façade system was adapted so for each new development a façade change could take place to match the theme or particular brand colours of the new development. This ensured a sustainable product that had an extended life span not only in its method of construction but in its future applications. It was installed and ready for use within 4 days of arriving on site.

A full modular method combining offsite construction. Structural frame work is a cold rolled system, outer rain screen facade is a mixture of Trespa panels and western red cedar cladding. Glazed window panels with a Smart systems powder coated aluminium window and door frame. The roof is a single ply membrane with an up stand and concealed rainwater outlets and down pipes.

The building came complete with lifting eyes for easy re-positioning and ongoing use.

Home Extention from Mikano

The client commissioned Mikano to design and build an extension that was in keeping with the original property. That could be installed and completed in the minimum amount of time.

The home to which the extension is to be attached is of architectural interest, and although the client had considered using an architect for the project but Mikano were able to offer a design led turn key package to deliver the solution within budget to the client - starting with initial hand rendered drafts through to full engineered designs.

A load bearing composite panel building solution is being use on this project.
The building will feature a terracotta façade to tie in with the existing building.

Garden Living Space by Mikano

The client commissioned Mikano to design and build a space that could provide separate well designed living space at the end of his garden. The client had considered several options prior to commissioning Mikano from a traditional build to log cabins and mobile homes.

Mikano were able to engineer a solution that required the unit to be partially built off site and delivered in cassette form due to access restrictions, the scheduled build time to completion is two weeks.

Built on screw in pilings and manufactured using galvanised steel, cold-formed profiles, utilising composite panels. Single ply roof. Aluminium and cedar Architectural façade system.

Zero Green Energy Prefab House

This green prefab put on by French architecture magazine, Architectures à Vivre, was on display last weekend at the Batimat Show in Paris. I think it's called La Maison de Demain, which I also think is French for House of Tomorrow, so we'll go with that as the name. Their website is in French.

The home is built with three prefabricated modules and is meant to show that green design can be affordable and attractive. An important aspect of the house is the open area in the middle, which could be as a covered patio to extend the footprint of the home into the natural environment.

Everything about the home is green, too, as far as I can tell: FSC-certified wood and siding, green label paints, low-VOC recycled carpet tiles, LED lighting, low-flow toilet, reinforced insulation, and photovoltaic panels. You'll also notice the living roof that provides numerous efficiency benefits (and seems to get water from the slanted roof). In the end, the compact, modern home is very efficient. Matter of fact, it's nearly net zero energy consumption once the solar panels are live. Nice.

La Petite Maison du Weekend | a Prototype self-sufficient minimal dwelling

La Petite Maison weekend is a prototype self remains minimal. It can be transferred to virtually any outdoor site, where it will provide the foundation for daily life: sleep for two, kitchen, shower, toilet and composting. Made of a variety of materials and premanufactured components, it generates its own electricity, collects and disseminates rainwater, human waste and compost using only the natural dynamics of the site.

The 6040 House | The house design by LaMiDesign

Greg La Vardera of LaMiDesign and Northern Steel International have teamed to design and build the 6040 House, a pre-engineered, modern steel home.

The 3,065 sf, 2-story home is designed to be built within the standard framework of a 60' by 40' pre-engineered steel building, hence the name. But as the 6040 floor plans show, it is also designed to provide a feeling of loft-like space and light.

The 6040 House contains 4 bedrooms and 3.5 baths, with a ground level master suite. The master suite contains its own second floor loft space (office/library) accessed by a spiral staircase. There is a second master bedroom with its own master bath as well. The ground level public spaces are open to the full height of the structure and circulation space from the bedrooms above overlook these spaces. The ground floor also features a media room. The structure as delivered and installed also includes decks and a 3-car garage.

The 6040 House begins with an all steel insulated design, utilizing pre-engineered, pre-cut, pre-drilled and pre-marked steel pieces produced to order in a factory. After delivery by truck, the building is installed onto your site-built foundation by you or your local contractor, or by Northern Steel (your option). Simply bolt the pre-fabricated frame to a concrete slab, screw on the pre-finished roof and wall sheets, and attach the supplied doors, windows and trim. Once installed, the 6040 House is ready for interior finishes applied by you or your local contractor.

LoftCube Prefab House | By Werner Aisslinger

The prefabricated house of Loftcube, designed by Werner Aisslinger and machinée by and8, is appropriate to the house prefabricated minimalistic with the people of a life style, a life and an operation nomads for short periods in large cities and urban sectors dense.

This prefabricated house modern A a surface on the ground of roughly forty square meters established on the empty flat roofs of the existing buildings, the sanctuary of offer and the social structure. I can just imagine the sight of the city.

As on yachts the organic structure of reinforcement is composed of the reinforced plastics of glass (GRP) while the frontages are made reinforcements of structural timber and glass or panels.

Interior view from loftcube prefab house......., nice and wonderful view, minimalis and clean...

The body of the Loftcube can be customized according to the user’s desires. The four outer walls consist of individual segments available in transparent, translucent or closed versions, while louvre windows with horizontal slats provide this unique prefab home with ventilation.

The interior can also be customized with fixed and sliding panels providing individual partitioning such as, living and sleeping areas, kitchen and bathroom. Werner Aisslinger, the head of studio aisslinger who designed the Loftcube prefab home, believes that 21st century design will advance towards the sophisticated use of new materials and technologies.

Instant penthouse.

Urban rooftops are the real estate of choice for the transportable 40 sq. meter Loftcube, but why stop there? The weight of the cube has been calculated for transport by helicopter. Mountaintops, islands and other remote places are now equally interesting for this minimalist structure with its walls of glass. As expected, the entire structure can be customized to adjust the degree of translucence and subdivided per individual taste and requirement. Price is 55,000 EU. Thanks Andrew!
