Lieblich!

Pretty things come in little packages! Located in Cologne, Germany, my architect father tells me this bedroom/stairway wouldn't fly here in the states (and I don't how I'd feel if I had to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night!). Nevertheless, it is altogether 560 square feet of turquoise joy! More info and pics here. (Thanks Alexandra! Good luck finding the perfect apartment!)

Bed of Flowers

Images of this delightful countryside bed and breakfast in Holland aptly named Bed of Flowers have been showing up everywhere in the blogosphere, so I apologize if you've seen them already. These were just too beautiful, too perfect for me, I had no choice but to share a few here too! Can you believe a room here costs only €95 per night for two people, which includes breakfast! Visit their website here to view a ton more yummy images.

Beside the Point

I know I just got home from vacation, but after seeing images in Coastal Living of the seaside rental cottage "Beside the Point" in Harbour Island, I immediately wanted to pack my bags again and head to the Bahamas (who am I kidding though, I haven't unpacked yet...!). I did a little search to find more images...this coastal cottage is way too cute! (Images via Coastal Living, John McCardy Architect and Island Real Estate).

Serene Country Home

Time to getaway! The color palette of this country home designed by Steven Gambrel gives off such a relaxing vibe. It just feels so quiet...if that's possible! I think the first image is my favorite. The blue and white prints, the lanterns, the window panes...it's all so pretty!

Wow!

House Beautiful

I need to send a huge thank you to Terri Sapienza of the Washington Post. I am truly honored that House of Turquoise was chosen as one of her 10 Best Picks to Click for 2008, especially considering the list includes such amazing and inspirational design blogs. I couldn't be more thrilled!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

And Hello 2009! I'm completely confident that you all rang in the new year with complete style!

I was so happy to discover Melbourne architectural and interior design studio Clare Cousins Architects through Desire to Inspire. Imagine walking into this house and finding that amazing turquoise wall?! What a home!

House Beautiful Colors for Your Home

If you love color as much as me, you must check out the book Colors For Your Home - 300 Designer Favorites from the editors of House Beautiful Magazine. I've seriously been so inspired since receiving it in the mail. More importantly though, I've never felt so confident in choosing the perfect shade of paint!

The handy-sized book is filled with great info and amazing pictures (and lots of color...real paint swatches!) You can easily find your perfect color by room, shade, designer, mood and more. I had no idea that a turquoisey Aruba Blue 2048-30 from Benjamin Moore is approved as a "Color Men Love"! It's no surprise though, Seafoam Green 2039-60 will give your room a sunny feeling. And get this, one of my favorite shades, Cool Aqua 2056-40 can be used as a quick color fix.

So if you're looking to paint a room, or just like looking at pictures of pretty rooms (lots, lots more than just these pretty blue ones above...), you won't be disappointed in Colors For Your Home. There are over 300 tried and true colors in this book that were all beautifully used in real homes by real interior designers. So much inspiration in a book that fits in your purse and costs less than a gallon of paint!

If you're interested, here are the links to it on Amazon and Barnes and Nobles.

Have a great weekend everyone! :)

Posh Living

So I am back from my vacation! I had a wonderful time in Colorado, in addition to a very leisurely ride back to Minnesota. The weather pretty much cooperated the entire time, except for Sunday when we got stuck in Des Moines...but I wasn't ready to go home yet anyway!

Aren't these images great?! I found them on the Flickr photostream belonging to Posh Living, a design shop in Surfside Beach, South Carolina. I just those gorgeous vintage style board and batten walls! Such lovely shades of blue everywhere.

So Pretty

This hallway is oh-so-pretty. I love the different patterns and textures....and obviously the beautiful blue colors! -HouseToHome

Painted Stair Runner

I absolutely love this painted stair runner. It totally makes this stairway even more fabulous (although the gorgeous mirror and light fixture don't hurt either.) -Apartment Therapy

Fiona Newell Weeks

I don't have any clue how Desire to Inspire always finds such talented designers, but Fiona Newell Weeks now tops my list of favorites. Best known for her use of color, Fiona likes her rooms to be creative and entertaining to the eye. I'd easily say my eyes are LOVING these images!
